I’m Kamran Baghestanian, proud owner of Urban 57 Home Decor Interior Design.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I’ve been an entrepreneur and a business owner since 1991 with twenty-seven years of experience in retail and business consulting. Growing up I lived in Sacramento, attended Rio Americano High School, American River College, and Sacramento State University to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering.

My experience in retail started early during my high school years, working at Scofield’s Fine Furnishings rug department, where my father was their main supplier for authentic Persian rugs.

My venture into business began when I opened my first store on Arden Way called ‘Kamran’s Antiques and Oriental Rugs’. I then moved to East Sacramento inside the Elvas Center in 1993, doing business under Oriental Rug Bazaar (where my father continues his business in the same location under Morry’s). Soon after that, I expanded my business operations to Lodi and then Napa. I purchased an old JC Penny building in downtown Lodi and transformed it into a 30,000 square feet showroom.

A few years later, Classic Living became San Juaquin’s exclusive Drexel Heritage dealer (A well-known furniture line). My business practices earned a number one ranking in San Juaquin County by local voters.

During this time I started traveling overseas to consult and help design furniture and oriental rugs with manufacturers and producers. I started importing goods right up until the fall of the financial crash in 2008. The stress and demands of such large operations became more than I desired.

Upon closing the Napa and Lodi locations, I sold the old JC Penny building and traveled for a while. I continued my consulting business, focusing on dental practices up until 2015. I then decided to come back and follow my passion for interior design and fine furnishings.

Urban 57 Home Décor & Design was opened with great success in 2015. From dealing in antiques and oriental rugs to what we’ve grown into, it’s been a major growth. Today it’s more design-oriented and all new home furnishings. However, the oriental rugs part has pretty much stayed the same. But we have definitely come a long way, and I couldn’t be happier.

For me, the most enjoyable part of the job is traveling to find unique and beautiful items. We’re constantly inspired seeing new designs and colors. But most importantly we have the ability to transform people’s lives with just a few simple furnishings - the look on their face is priceless.

I believe in certain core values when it comes to running the business, which has helped me over the years. Our mission is simple - to better the lives of our customers by providing beautiful and comfortable furnishings for their home or workplace.

Our goal is to direct our love for interior design into finding products that fit our customers’ lifestyle. Value is our priority. Whether it’s a sofa made in the United States or an imported decorative piece of furniture, it should demonstrate value in both quality and price.

I believe the success of my business lies in being able to adapt to changing markets. It’s crucial to stay innovative in the interior design world because trends change like the winds. Talent and taste are important, but adaptability helps you stay on top always.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from others is the commitment to my clients. Our aim is to become your preferred source for home furnishings that straddles the middle to upper-end price points of today’s industry. We want to make furniture and design worth talking about, develop empathy for those we seek to serve and work hard to build a company that people would refer to their friends and family.

Of course being able to build long-term relationships with our clients is also rewarding. Seeing their vision and collaborating with them to actually making it happen is extremely satisfying and the main goal at the end of the day.

When I am not at work, I love working in my backyard, planting new trees and nourishing our flowers. It’s good exercise, and it’s therapeutic. I also enjoy cooking, biking and traveling.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from our expertise in home decor and interior design in Sacramento, CA, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit our website at www.urban57.com.
